3-foot ‘child’ virginal, the ‘mother’ virginal of which is missing. According to O’Brien, it was built between 1615 and 1628 (presumably c. 1626, based on the serial number). The case has been decorated using printed paper. The soundboard has been painted with flowers and arabesques. Rose with the initials ‘A R’ (Andreas Ruckers). The manual was extended at a later date. The jack rail is missing. The instrument underwent conservation measures in 2006.
Provenance: Until 1999 the instrument was part of the Museum Sterckshof collection (Province of Antwerp). In 1999 the Province transferred it to the Museum Vleeshuis.
